Log Cabin Placemats
Zoom Class

By Kathy Clawson

Join Kathy for this Zoom platform class. This class is offered live from the comfort of your own home. You will have the ability to ask questions and receive answers in real time. Each instructional portion of the classes will be recorded and uploaded to the University so that you will have the class always available to you.

This class will feature the piecing of the timeless log cabin block into a functional piece of art that will adorn your table.
The project will be taught from beginning to finish. We will also look at an optional table runner to polish off the look. The focus of this class will be piecing precisely and easily teaching the perfect seam allowance with a combination of cutting, thread, stitching placement and pressing.

The template choices for this project will focus on roundness of circles, Westalee Design Spin-e-Fex, Curly Q's, Circles on Quilts, and Spinning Wheels.

The sharpness of the log cabin and the curves of the templates will make a perfect combination. You do not need to have each of these templates as we will explore different looks with this fun and functional project.

Seating is limited to 25 students and will fill quickly. Get your seat guaranteed by signing up for the Poinsettia Panel Design Class in the Sew Steady University.

Kathy Clawson, Sew Steady Promoted Instructor, Master Quilter

Kathy was raised by a mother who was passionate about sewing and instilled this love into her at a young age. While growing up Kathy sewed most of her own clothes and designed wallets, purses, and other bags. Then she found quilting and fell in love with the process and working with color and design. Free motion quilting became Kathy’s passion until she discovered Westalee Rulers and Templates. Utilizing her many years of free motion quilting set Kathy up for success with rulers and templates and a love of incorporating them together for a unique look.

Kathy owns her own quilt shop, located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where education is the main focus. Her philosophy is to accomplish three things with her students. First, have fun. Second is to learn something with each class, and third is to leave with more confidence. Her teaching style is laid back and inclusive believing that not everyone learns at the same pace or in the same manner. Kathy incorporates written instruction, demonstration, and hands on approach to a well rounded educational experience
